Bettering Ourselves while Bettering our Planet
Guys, I said this twos months into freshman year of college and I still mean it, TIME IS FLYING. I don’t know if it is because I’m getting older and maybe paying attention to how valuable time is but I am not over it, and probably will never be. I almost lose my shit every time I think of it. And #here #we #are.
In August. August of 2018. Eight months into the year, and were FINALLLLY getting to some of our resolutions- hence the blog. I think this has been a long time coming, but better late than never… #am #I #right? (that might be our all-time go-to hashtags)
Anyways, other than starting a blog and trying to book a modeling gig once a month- which we are doing pretty dang good at sticking to, we set some other goals for 2018. Some things that we have failed at!
Like living a Zero-Waste Life. That was such a bizarre goal for us for 2018, and I’d like to say it was determined the morning of January 1st when December 31 night was still in our blood system.
As much as I would LOVE to be able to say we live a waste-free life, it is not something that just happens overnight. And as much as I LOVE how ambitious we were, it was not going to happen for us in 2018 for three reasons.
1. Time and lifestyle
3. Lack of education
Sad to say, but since we graduated in 2016 with a degree in Sustainability, other than the simple task of recycling- we kind of fell off of that train of caring for the environment, respecting the environment and finding our balance.
SO, we revamped that resolution. We decided to do something new every month, obtaining a new habit that is sustainable, good for the environment and betters ourselves along with it.
We joined the “Say no to Straws” movement and purchased our own stainless-steel straws, we switched from everyday zip lock bags to Stasher Reusable Bags, have a yeti water bottle that we reuse all the time, we religiously are using our Re-usable grocery bags, we finally bought our own beach cruisers so bikes can be our source for transportation locally, and we are learning something new every day- either on podcasts, blogs, or studies.
We look forward to sharing what we are learning with you all in hopes to help you enhance your life while keeping our planet around for our future littles to enjoy this beautiful place we call home!
